Baba Yaga Delivers – A Flyable Window and Another AAT Day at the WWGC
After a magical evening of witchcraft and weather summoning at the Baba Yaga ceremony, the Women’s World Gliding Championship in Zbraslavice was gifted a welcome surprise—clear blue skies and sunshine this morning! With just a few mid-level clouds and a promising satellite image, optimism filled the air.
All classes were gridded, and at briefing, the tasks were set: 2-hour AATs for the water classes and 2:30 for Club Class. The only shadow over the day was an approaching cold front from the west, forecasted to bring passive cloud cover and weakening conditions by around 16:00—and indeed, that prediction came true.
But the cold front wasn’t the only challenge. Pilots battled weak climbs, strong wind, and a lack of reliable cloud streets throughout their tasks. As a result, daily average speeds stayed well below 100 km/h, and the tricky conditions proved demanding for many.
Still, the day was a success, with tasks completed in all classes—marking a valid competition now in both Standard and 18m Class.
Congratulations to today’s daily winners:
Julia Walowska (Club Class) – 72.56 km/h
Klara Teichmannová (Standard Class) – 84.35 km/h
Alena Netušilová (18m Class) – 94.52 km/h
Well flown, everyone!
Dalšà AAT
Po magickĂ©m veÄŤeru plnĂ©m ÄŤarodÄ›jnictvĂ a vyvolávánĂ poÄŤasĂ na ceremonii Baba Jaga dostalo MistrovstvĂ SvÄ›ta Ĺľen v plachtÄ›nĂ v ZbraslavicĂch pĹ™ĂjemnĂ© pĹ™ekvapenà – jasnou oblohu a sluneÄŤnĂ svit! S malinko stĹ™ednĂ oblaÄŤnostĂ a slibnĂ˝m satelitnĂm snĂmkem vládl optimismus.
Julia Walowska (Club Class) – 72.56 km/h
Klara Teichmannová (Standard Class) – 84.35 km/h
Alena Netušilová (18m Class) – 94.52 km/h
Skvělý let, všichni!
